Connect to Microsoft Azure Analysis Services

Configure the Microsoft Azure Analysis Services connection properties to connect to Microsoft Azure Analysis Services.

Before you begin

Before you get started, you'll need to get information from your Microsoft Azure Analysis Services account based on the connection mode that you want to configure.

Connection details

The following table describes the basic connection properties:
Property
Description
Use Secret Vault
Stores sensitive credentials for this connection in the secrets manager that is configured for your organization.
This property appears only if secrets manager is set up for your organization.
This property is not supported by Data Ingestion and Replication.
When you enable the secret vault in the connection, you can select which credentials that the Secure Agent retrieves from the secrets manager. If you don't enable this option, the credentials are stored in the repository or on a local Secure Agent, depending on how your organization is configured.

Connection Name
Name of the connection.
Each connection name must be unique within the organization. Connection names can contain alphanumeric characters, spaces, and the following special characters: _ . + -,
Maximum length is 255 characters.
Description
Description of the connection. Maximum length is 4000 characters.
Runtime Environment
The name of the runtime environment where you want to run tasks. Select a Secure Agent or serverless runtime environment.
Authentication Type
The authentication type to use for the connection. Choose to connect using the Admin User option or the Service Principal option.
Server Name
The unique identifier for your Microsoft Azure Analysis Services instance.

Authentication types

You can configure your Microsoft Azure Analysis Services connection to use either the Admin User or Service Principal authentication type.
Select the required authentication type and then configure the authentication-specific parameters.

Admin User authentication

Admin User authentication requires your Microsoft Azure Analysis Services account user name and password.
The following table describes the connection properties for the Admin User authentication:

User Name
The fully qualified user name to connect to Microsoft Azure Analysis Services instances.
Password
The password associated with the user name.

Service Principal authentication

Service Principal authentication requires the Tenant ID and client secret of your application registered in Azure Active Directory.
The following table describes the connection properties for the Service Principal authentication:

Client ID
The client or application ID of the registered application to complete the service principal authentication.
Tenant ID
The tenant ID of the registered application to complete the service principal authentication.
Client Secret
The client secret key to connect to complete the service principal authentication.
