Prepare for authentication

You can configure OAuth 2.0 authorization code or OAuth 2.0 client credentials authentication to access Xero.
Before you configure the connection properties, you need to keep the authentication details handy based on the authentication type that you want to use.

OAuth 2.0 authorization code

To connect to Xero using the OAuth 2.0 authorization code, you need the authorization URL, access token URL, client ID, client secret, scope, and access token.
To get the authorization details, you need to create an OAuth2 app in the Xero Developer portal, select the Auth Code grant type, and register the following Informatica redirect URI:
https://<Informatica cloud hosting facility for your organization>/ma/proxy/oauthcallback
After you create the app, go to the Configuration tab to find the credentials for the connection. Copy the client ID and generate a client secret.
If the access token expires and the response returns the 401 error code, the Informatica redirect URI, which is outside the customer firewall, tries to connect to the endpoint and retrieve a new access token.
For more information about how to create an OAuth2 app and get the authorization details, see The standard authorization code flow in the Xero documentation.

OAuth 2.0 client credentials

To connect to Xero using OAuth 2.0 client credentials authentication, you need the access token URL, client ID, client secret, scope, and access token.
To get the authorization details, create a custom connection app in the Xero Developer portal. When you configure the app, select the scopes for the objects that you want to access, and then generate a client secret.
For more information about how to create a custom connection app and get the authorization details, see Custom Connections and Client Credentials in the Xero documentation.
