Hierarchies show how records are related to one another. A hierarchy contains first-level nodes, child records, and relationships between the records.
Use hierarchies to organize and categorize records into appropriate categories. Categorizing product records helps in finding a record quickly and efficiently. You can also establish relationships between each record in the hierarchy.
For example, under Electronics you can include child categories, such as Video Game Console Accessories, Video Game Consoles, Circuit Board and Components, and others. The category Circuit Board and Components can include additional child categories, such as Passive Circuit Components, Circuit Prototyping, Semiconductors, and others. The category Semiconductors can include Diodes, Microcontrollers, Intergrated Circuit and Chips, and Transistors.
Similarly, all the other categories include multiple child categories and items in the appropriate category.

The hierarchical relationships that you can create depend on your hierarchy model.
Hierarchies page
Use the Hierarchies page to create, manage, and delete hierarchies. The page displays active, draft, and pending hierarchies and groups the hierarchies based on the hierarchy model.
You can also filter to view your draft hierarchies only.

Hierarchy tab
Use the Hierarchy tab of a record to view the hierarchies a record belongs to. The page displays active, draft, and pending hierarchies and groups the hierarchies based on the hierarchy model.
You can also view the child and parent records in the hierarchy.
