Launching Guides from a Calendar Event

Guide Designer lets you to send iCalendar files to people who will be attending an event. When it was installed, Guide Designer added an Email Invitations button onto Calendar Event pages that helps you do this.
Here's how you send iCalendar files to meeting participants.
  1. 1Create an event in Salesforce. Generally, creating an event is separate from sending invitations, although it doesn't have to be. As you usually do when creating an event, you will identify the person the event is assigned to, the object such as an opportunity that the event is related to, and so on.
  2. 2After creating the event, go to the created event's page. Here you will see an Email Invitations button.

  6. 4After filling out this page, click the Continue button. Guide Designer will now create an iCalendar file for the event, attaching it to an email that it sends to people participating in the event.
  7. Note: Guide Designer can create two different iCalendar files. The first is included in emails sent to people who are named as contacts, leads, and the like. This iCalendar file lets them add the event to their calendar. In contrast, the person sending the invitation receives an email that contains a link to the event. Also, if the invitees include other users who are working for your company, they also get a link to the Event object. This lets them get more information about the event. However, only the event's host (the one to which the event is assigned) can run the event.
  8. 5Open the calendar attachment on your phone. (If you open it on a PC, you will need to sync it to your phone). Here is the kind of information that the person who is hosting the meeting sees on an iPhone.
  9. Mobile Event Link
  10. 6At the time of the meeting, users can tap the link to access the guide.
