Introduction to Db2 for i Connector

You can use Db2 for i Connector to connect to a PowerExchange for Db2 for i environment to retrieve data from Db2 source tables on an IBM i system.
For relational sources and targets such as DB2 for i tables, you do not need to create a data map. The connector can import the metadata that PowerExchange reads from the DB2 catalog to create a source or target. PowerExchange uses these transformations to access the source or target tables. On a read, the data is returned to the PowerExchange Bulk Reader, which sends the records to Data Integration. Data Integration can then send the records to a supported target, such as the PowerExchange Bulk Writer.
Db2 for i Connector retrieves records from PowerExchange and sends the records to Data Integration. Data Integration can then transmit the data to a supported target.
To move bulk data from or to Db2 for i, you must run a mapping or a mapping task.
Db2 for i Connector must be able to connect to an active PowerExchange environment. You do not need to copy the PowerExchange dbmover configuration file to the Db2 for i Connector system. For more information about configuring PowerExchange for Db2 for i, see the PowerExchange Bulk Data Movement Guide .
Db2 for i Connector works with the Informatica Cloud Secure Agent. When you install and start the Secure Agent, it downloads the Db2 for i Connector components and the PowerExchange Client packages. When you define a runtime environment, you configure a Secure Agent group.
Note: Db2 for i Connector does not work with the Hosted Agent.
