Power BI Connector Overview

Power BI Connector provides connectivity between Data Integration and Power BI. Use the Power BI connection as a target in mapping tasks.
You can use Power BI Connector to store the data in Microsoft Azure Blob Storage. Microsoft Azure Blob Storage stores the data in the .csv format within containers. These containers can contain multiple data files in the .csv format and one model.json metadata file in each container.
Microsoft Azure Blob Storage is a cloud-based store that stores the files in one or more containers.
A model.json metadata file is a data definition file that conforms to the common data model that Microsoft supports and the custom data object. Power BI Desktop uses the model.json metadata file to parse the data.
Power BI Connector generates a model.json metadata file in the same container where the .csv files are stored in the Microsoft Azure Blob Storage. Then, Power BI Connector creates an external data flow in the Power BI Online workspace. You can access the external data flow through Power BI Desktop from where you can view the data and create a report on Power BI Desktop. You can then publish the report on the Power BI Online to share the report.
As the data resides in the .csv file format in Microsoft Azure Blob Storage, you cannot edit the data on the Power BI Desktop or Power BI Online. You can only read the data and create a report based on the data. You can edit or modify a report as required.
To change the data corresponding to the .csv file in Microsoft Azure Blob Storage, you must create and run a mapping using Power BI Connector.
Note: Power BI Connector is available for public preview. Public preview functionality is supported but is unwarranted and is not production-ready. Informatica recommends that you use in non-production environments only. Informatica intends to include the preview functionality in an upcoming GA release for production use, but might choose not to in accordance with changing market or technical circumstances.
