Automapping is a CLAIRE capability that provides recommendations to automatically match and align data integration sources and targets during mapping design.
You can use the automapping capabilities to generate suggestions for data integration mapping in Business 360 Console.
Automapping generates a set of mapping suggestions based on matching data fields' names, structures, and data types. You can also add transformations to the mapping as necessary.
You can use automapping to generate data integration mappings faster when compared to the traditional method of creating mappings. You can then focus on prioritizing the business requirements, while CLAIRE efficiently handles the complex task of generating the data integration mappings.
Using automapping, you can automate the mapping process by learning from the matched records and considering the appropriate mapping rules or transformations, and combine the data from different sources. Automapping reduces the associated complexities of creating mappings by automating the manual process and in turn, reduces the possibilities of errors associated with a manual process.
Automapping, with the help of CLAIRE, can learn the underlying structure and patterns in a mapping to identify source table relationships. Automapping identifies matching fields between source and target transformation, establishes logical mappings between the source and target metadata, and then suggests the mappings. You can use these suggestions to create a mapping without prior domain knowledge of the different source and target systems.
Automapping isn't available in mappings in SQL ELT mode.
Generate automapping
In Business 360 Console, when you start the mapping creation process from an organization or persona business entity, the fields of source and target objects are mapped automatically in Data Integration.
After you start automapping in Business 360 Console, you are automatically redirected to Data Integration.
1In Business 360 Console, on the Sources tab of the Choose sources and targets page, click Add Sources.
2 Select the packages and sources along with their objects.
You can select multiple objects. Use the Find field to search for the objects if required.
3Click Add.
The selected sources and their objects appear on the Sources tab.
4Optionally, verify the target business entity.
Note that the target is predefined and you can't configure it.
5Click Create Mapping.
The mapping appears in the mapping canvas. Save and validate the mapping.
You can configure the mapping to add one or more supported transformations.
Transformations in automapping
You can configure the following transformations in automapping:
•Source
•Target
•Hierarchical target (MDM)
•Filter
•Expression
•Normalizer
•Joiner
For more information about the transformations, see the Transformation help.
