Data masking recommendations

If your organization uses Metadata Command Center and you select a catalog source object with columns that are classified as sensitive, CLAIRE recommends a Data Masking transformation to hide the sensitive data.
Before CLAIRE can recommend Data Masking transformations, create the data classifications and define the level of sensitivity in Metadata Command Center. Data classifications can have low, medium, or high sensitivity. Medium or high sensitivity mean that the column contains sensitive information.
Then, configure the classifications with a catalog source and run a data classification job to associate the data elements in the source with the data classifications.
When you select the catalog source as your source object in the mapping, CLAIRE recommends a Data Masking transformation if one or more columns in the source object have medium or high sensitivity.

Viewing data masking recommendations

When you use a source object that contains sensitive data, CLAIRE recommends a data masking transformation. When a recommendation is available, Data Integration highlights the Recommendations tab. You can preview the transformation and either accept or reject the recommendation.
1To view the recommendation, open the Recommendations panel.
2In the list of recommendations, expand the Data Masking transformation that you want to investigate.
Data Integration lists the source fields with medium and high sensitivity.
3To preview the recommendation, select the fields that you want to mask and then click the Show Me icon.
A Data Masking transformation appears on the mapping canvas linked to the associated source with a default masking rule based on the column name. Data Integration also highlights the potentially sensitive fields in the source.
You can change the default masking rule after you accept the recommendation.
4If you want to use the Data Masking transformation, select the fields that you want to mask and then click the Accept icon.
After you accept the recommendation, you can edit the default masking rule.
5On the mapping canvas, connect the transformation to the data flow.
6If you don't want to use the transformation, click Decline.
Data Integration removes the recommended Data Masking transformation from the mapping canvas.
