Secure Agent deployment
Before you can run an Azure data sync task, you must deploy a Secure Agent. A Secure Agent is a lightweight program that runs all tasks and enables secure communication across the firewall between your organization and Informatica Intelligent Cloud Services. You must deploy at least one Secure Agent in order to run tasks in Data Accelerator for Azure.
In Data Accelerator for Azure, you can deploy a Secure Agent in the following ways:
- Deploy a Secure Agent on an Azure Virtual Machine
This option creates a new virtual machine (VM) for the Secure Agent and deploys the agent on the new VM.
Select this option if you need to access data that is available on your Azure virtual network. Do not select this option if you need to access on-premises data sources, access data sources that are behind your organization's firewall, or if you want to install the Secure Agent on an existing VM.
- Download and install a Secure Agent
This option downloads and installs a Secure Agent on a local machine or existing VM.
Select this option if you need to access on-premises data, access data that is stored behind your organization's firewall, or if you want to install the Secure Agent on an existing VM.
When you deploy a Secure Agent, Informatica Intelligent Cloud Services adds the agent to a Secure Agent group that has the same name as the Secure Agent. A Secure Agent group is also called a runtime environment. When you configure a source or target connection in Data Accelerator for Azure or configure an Azure data sync task, you select the runtime environment to use.
