Changed behavior

The July 2024 release of Data Governance and Catalog includes the following changed behaviors.

Improved data observability for source systems

Data observability can observe a source system data that contains up to 50,000 data elements.
Earlier, data observability could observe up to 10,000 data elements.
For more information about data observability, see Data observability.

Enable hierarchy deletion through the bulk import process for an asset stakeholder

If you are the stakeholder of an asset, you can delete the asset along with its child assets through the bulk import process.
Earlier, you could delete an asset along with its child assets through bulk import process if you had the Super Admin privilege.
For more information about deletion of assets, see Deleting assets.

Enable deletion of glossaries with Data quality scores through the bulk import process

You can now delete glossaries that are associated with Data quality scores through the bulk import process.
Earlier, you could delete glossaries that were associated with Data quality scores through user interface only.
For more information about deletion of assets, see Deleting assets.

Customize relationships between manual data element and other business assets

You can customize relationships between manual data element and other business assets like Policy, Process, and Project.
For more information about relationship types between several assets, see Types of direct relationships.

Change Asset Types selection in search-based widget to optional

You will no longer need to select Asset Types in search-based widget, specially when you run queries like all not having comments, all not having ratings, all with lifecycle draft and more.
For more information about search-based widget, see Search-based widget.

Automatically assign business names and descriptions to technical data elements using technical asset export re-import

When curating technical data elements with glossaries in bulk, you can now choose to automatically assign business names and descriptions to the technical data elements during glossary association. The system assigns the business name and description to the technical data element from either an accepted glossary or from a glossary in the catalog that isn't already rejected for the data element.
Earlier, you could only manually add the name and description to the technical data element.
For more information about how you can curate technical data elements with glossaries in bulk, see Re-import assets using search results exported file.

Specify process duration in weeks, days or hours

When you use the bulk import operation to create a Process asset, you can now specify the duration in weeks, days or hours.
Earlier, you could specify only the duration value and not the unit of measurement.
For more information about how you can use the bulk import operation to create a Process asset, see Process.

Custom delimiter behavior in delimited files

If you add a custom delimiter, you override the default list of delimiters. When you specify a delimiter, characters from the default list are not considered as delimiters.
Previously, a custom delimiter that you specify was appended to the default list of delimiters.
You can specify custom delimiters when you configure the following catalog sources:
For more information about configuring a custom delimiter for catalog sources, see Catalog Source Configuration.

Access and name change of Connection Assignment

The Connection Assignment page is now named Assign Connections and you can access it from the Lineage tab on the Configure page.
Previously, the page was named Connection Assignment, and you could access it from the Monitor page.
For information about assigning connections, see Connections.
