Delivery methods

A delivery method represents the medium used to deliver the data to the Data User that ordered the collection. Delivery Owners use delivery methods to create delivery templates. Delivery methods are used by Data Marketplace Administrators to design Delivery Templates. Use the Marketplace - Delivery Method Template.xlsx file or upload your own Microsoft Excel spreadsheet to create delivery methods in Data Marketplace.

Prerequisites

Before you can create delivery methods, verify one of the following prerequisites:

Column description

The following table describes the fields in the Marketplace - Delivery Method Template.xlsx file and the values that you can enter:
Field
Description
Example
Reference ID
Enter a reference identifier for the delivery method.
Field Type: Free text; optional
Guidelines: If you don't specify a reference identifier, Data Marketplace automatically assigns a unique value to the object.
If you want to specify a reference identifier, enter a unique alphabetical, numeric or alphanumeric value. You can also use special characters when you enter a reference identifier value. Ensure that the value that you enter doesn’t use a prefix value that is configured in Metadata Command Center.
For more information about reference IDs, see the Manage reference IDs of objects topic in the Set Up Data Marketplace help.
You can specify DMethod01 or DM-1 as the reference ID of a delivery method. However, if DMT- is a reference ID prefix that is configured in your Metadata Command Center, you cannot use DMT-1.
Method Name
Enter a name for the delivery method as you want it to appear in Data Marketplace.
Field Type: Free text; required
Guidelines: The delivery method names should clearly indicate the method of delivery that they represent.
FTP, SFTP
Status
Specify a status for the delivery method. The status determines whether a delivery method is available to be added to delivery templates.
Field Type: Fixed value; required Enter one of the following values:
  • - To make the delivery method available, set the status to ACTIVE.
  • - To make the delivery method unavailable, set the status to INACTIVE.
Guidelines: Typically, the delivery methods that you create should be activated for use. If you are creating inactive delivery methods, ensure that you have a valid reason for doing so, or you can create the delivery methods later.
