Before you can extract catalog source metadata, get information from the SFTP File System administrator.
Ensure that the following prerequisites are met:
•Configure SFTP on the Windows or Linux machine from which you want to extract metadata.
•Verify permissions.
•Create a connection.
Verify permissions
To extract metadata and to configure other capabilities that a catalog source might include, you need account access and permissions on the source system. The permissions required might vary depending on the capability.
Permissions to extract metadata
To extract SFTP File System metadata, you need account access to the SFTP File System source.
Verify that the administrator performs the following tasks:
•Creates a user account to access the source system.
•Grants read permissions to the directory on the Windows or Linux machine from which you want to extract metadata.
Permissions to run data classification
You can perform data classification with the permissions required to perform metadata extraction.
Permissions to run glossary association
You can perform glossary association with the permissions required to perform metadata extraction.
Create a connection
Before you configure the SFTP File System catalog source, create an Advanced SFTP V2 connection object in Administrator.
If you want to test the connection before you save it, verify that Mass Ingestion is running on the Secure Agent.

Description
Host
The host name or IP address of the server. The host name is case insensitive and must be unique within the domain. The name cannot exceed 24 characters. It can contain letters (A to Z), digits (0 to 9), period (.) special character, and minus (-) sign.
Port
The port number to use to connect to the server. Default is 21.
Username
User name to connect to the SFTP server.
Password
Password to connect to the SFTP server.
Folder Path
The directory to use after connecting to the server.
