To run metadata extraction jobs through the SAP Datasphere Command Line Interface (CLI), install the SAP Datasphere CLI. You can install the CLI on both Linux and Windows machines.
If you use Linux, perform the following steps:
1Run the following installation commands on the Secure Agent machine:

- node -v
- npm -v
- datasphere-version
If you use Windows, perform the following steps:
1Install the following tools on the Secure Agent machine:
- Node.js version >=20 and <=22
- npm version >=8 and <=10
- npm install -g @sap/datasphere-cli
2Run the following commands to confirm that the installation is successful:
- node -v
- npm -v
- datasphere --version

Troubleshooting SAP Datasphere CLI
If you get an SAP Datasphere CLI health-check error, refer to the following section.
Metadata extraction jobs fail on Windows with the following error message: SAP Datasphere CLI health-check failed: 'datasphere objects' did not return the expected response
When you run the datasphere login command, the SAP Datasphere CLI saves the login session in your Windows user profile. The Secure Agent runs as a Windows service. By default, the service runs under the Local System account, not under your user account. Because the CLI saves the session in a different user profile, the Secure Agent can't find the login session, and the CLI health check fails.
The CLI works correctly, but the Secure Agent can't find the login session, and the CLI health check fails.
To resolve the issue, perform the following steps:
1On the Secure Agent machine, open the Windows Services console.
2Right-click the Informatica Cloud Secure Agent service and select Properties.
3On the Log On tab, select This account, and enter the user name and password of the Windows user who ran the Datasphere login command.
