The July 2026 release of Metadata Command Center includes the following important notices.
Post-upgrade tasks
Purge deprecated unstructured data assets
After you upgrade to the July 2026 release, if you have existing PDF, Text, DOC, or DOCX files in your catalog and you re-run the catalog source job, the files get catalogued as unstructured files with specific asset types.
As a result, business users might see duplicate assets in the catalog. Prior to the July 2026 release, unstructured files such as PDF, Text, DOC, and DOCX files were catalogued as structured files asset type. These assets are now deprecated and their lifecycle status is marked as Obsolete.
If you re-run the catalog source job after upgrading to the July 2026 release, perform the following tasks:
1Add enrichments to the new asset. The existing enrichments for the deprecated assets are not retained for the new assets.
2Remove deprecated assets from the catalog using the Purge Obsolete Objects from the Catalog Sources page of the Explore page.
