Default Population

Population defines specific characteristics of data in the records that you want to match. Each supported country, language, or population has a match population.
Populations improve match accuracy by accounting for the inevitable variations and errors that might exist in the name, address, and other identification data of a particular population. Populations contain the logic to generate match keys and specify how match strategies and match criteria process the data to be matched.
When you ingress or import records, you can assign multiple populations to the records. If the records don't contain population information, the population that's configured for the match model is used. For example, your data consists of 25 records, with 15 records assigned to the Japan population and 10 records that don't have any specified population. Then, the default population of the match model, such as Usa, is applied to the 10 unspecified records during the matching process.
You can't update the population of a record in business applications or if you use the Update Source Record API.
The match criteria values in a declarative rule vary based on the default match population that you select.

Supported Populations

You can select a default population from a list of multiple values for different countries when you configure a match model.
You can view detailed information about the population. For example, if you select the Chinese_r population, you can view the details about the Chinese Romanized Standard script for the Chinese population.
The following image shows the details for the Usa population:
The Add Match Model dialog box shows the Model Name, Model Objective, Population, and About Population fields.
The following table lists the supported populations that you can use for a match model:
