Defining business events

You can define business events related to actions on business entity records, such as create, update, delete, and merge, to trigger a workflow or publish the events to external targets.
To ensure that business managers review and approve the data before it becomes master data, define user-triggered and system-generated events. These events trigger workflows that consist of multiple tasks linked together. A user-triggered event includes actions that users perform, such as creating, updating, and unmerging records, or creating and updating hierarchies. System-generated events are actions that the system performs, such as the system identifying matches that require manual review.
The workflow tasks that the user-triggered and system-generated events trigger require human intervention. Only when the users with user roles associated with the workflow tasks take appropriate actions, does the business process complete.
Note: Tasks created after the November 2023 release expire after 365 days if they are inactive or unattended. Tasks created before the November 2023 release don't expire even if they are inactive or unattended. For more information about expiration of tasks, see Human task expiration.
To publish events from the business applications to external targets, define publishing events.
