When users update or delete values of related business entity attributes that are part of a data access rule condition, MDM SaaS automatically runs the reapply data access rules job.
The reapply data access rules job reapplies the data access rules on the impacted records. This job runs when more than 1000 records are impacted.
The reapply data access rules job runs during the following scenarios:
•When users update or delete attribute values of a business entity that's related to a protected business entity through business entity record fields and relationships.
•When users edit values of attributes that are part of a data access rule condition in bulk.
For example, Jim creates a data access rule to protect the Person business entity and assigns it to Role 1. Jim wants to assign users to Role 1 to access records that contain ABC Corporation as the company name and Tom as the reporting manager.
Jim sets the following conditions in the data access rule:
•The First Name field in the Person business entity equals to Tom.
•The Name field in the Organization business entity equals to ABC Corporation.
The condition set for the data access rule includes a business entity attribute from the Organization business entity that's related to the Person business entity through the Company business entity record field.
The following image displays the data access rule set with a condition that contains a related business entity attribute:
The Person business entity contains 10,000 records of which 5000 meet the configured condition. Users assigned to the custom user role can view the 5000 records. If Jim updates the value of the Name field in the Organization business entity to JM Industries, MDM SaaS must reassess the 5000 records to ensure that they are no longer accessible to users assigned to Role 1.
To reassess the impacted records, MDM SaaS automatically runs the reapply data access rules job. This job reapplies the data access rule on the impacted records.
