Configuring retention periods for historical data

To comply with data retention policies, you can configure a retention period for the history of master data.
Use the History Retention page to configure the retention period. You can set the retention period for historical data up to a maximum of seven years. Historical data that's older than the retention period is permanently deleted and can't be restored. For example, if you set the retention period today to one month, all historical data older than 31 days is purged. You can still access data from the past 31 days.
Note: Ensure that you set the retention period to up to one month for development environments and up to three months for QA environments.
When you save the configuration, a purge job is created. The job permanently deletes historical data of business entity records, hierarchies, and relationships that exceeds the specified retention period.
You can monitor the status of the purge job on the My Jobs page.
