After you upload the mapped files, you can begin the modernization process.
The modernization process includes the following steps:
1Standardize configuration.
2Modernize data models.
3Modernize match models.
4Modernize hierarchies.
5Modernize relationship graph.
6Modernize user roles.
7Modernize user accounts.
Step 1. Standardize configuration
To modernize the MDM Hub objects, you need to use the standardized configuration of the mapped files that you upload. The modernization process standardizes the configuration details into multiple JSON files.
1To prepare the objects for modernization, click Standardize.
The Business Entity Field Configurations section appears with a list of business entities and their field properties. The business entities that exceed the defined property limits are highlighted in red.
2Review the field properties of business entities and disable the properties if required to stay within the defined limits.
3To review the field properties of a business entity, click Manage Field Properties in the Action column.
The Manage Field Properties dialog box appears with the field properties for the business entity.
4Review the field properties of business entity fields.
5To stay within the defined field property limits for a business entity, disable the property.
Note: After modernization, save the business entity canvas and generate search indexes in MDM SaaS to reflect the changes made to the field property. The modernization process doesn't save the canvas or generate search indexes by default.
6Click Apply.
7Download the standardized configuration.
After you download the standardized configuration, you can review the JSON files and proceed to modernize data models. Whenever you upload a mapped file that you download, you must standardize the configuration to reflect the changes.
Step 2. Modernize data models
When you modernize the data model, you can either include or exclude the lookup tables in the reference data mapping file.
For more information about modernizing data models, see Data models.
1In the Modernization Steps, click Data Model.
2To include the lookup tables in the mapped reference data mapping file, select Include lookup tables mapped in the uploaded file.
3Click Preview.
The Preview and Modernize section appears with a list of data model objects that are ready for modernization.
4Review the objects.
5In the Preview and Modernize section, click Modernize.
You can view the status of the modernization process in the Modernization Status column.
Step 3. Modernize match rule sets
You can modernize the match rule sets and distinct source systems that the business entities use in the MDM Hub. If a match rule created for a business entity in the MDM Hub contains errors, the modernization process skips that rule and continues modernizing the rest of the rules in the rule set.
For more information about modernizing match rule sets, see Match rule sets.
1In the Modernization Steps, click Match Rule Set.
2Click Preview.
The Preview and Modernize section appears with a list of match rule sets and distinct source systems that are ready for modernization.
3If you configured source systems as distinct sources in the MDM Hub, click View for a business entity in the Distinct Source Systems tab.
The Distinct Source Systems dialog box displays the distinct source systems configured for the business entity.
4In the Match Rules tab, review the match rule sets.
5Click Modernize.
You can view the status of the modernization process in the Modernization Status column.
Step 4. Modernize hierarchies
You can modernize hierarchies and relationships from the MDM Hub.
The Preview and Modernize section appears with a list of user roles that are ready for modernization. The user roles appear as hyperlinks.
3Click the user role for which you want to review or modify the privileges.
The User Roles page of the Informatica Intelligent Cloud Services Administrator opens in a new browser tab.
4Review or modify the privileges in the Informatica Intelligent Cloud Services Administrator page, and click Save.
5In the Preview and Modernize section, click Modernize.
You can view the status of the modernization process in the Modernization Status column.
Step 7. Modernize user accounts
You can modernize user accounts in the MDM Hub. After modernization, user accounts become inactive in MDM SaaS and an activation email is sent to the registered email address of users. Users can activate their accounts by following the instructions in the email.
