Create an assessment task to evaluate the conversion feasibility of the PowerCenter and Data Engineering Integration assets to the cloud environment.
Before you assess a repository, perform the following steps:
•Store the parameter file in ZIP format in the shared directory you created. Ensure that the parameter file contains only text content. If the parameter file includes executables or binary files, file validation fails and prevents the assessment task from running.
•If you want to repoint PowerCenter assets to a different endpoint after migrating to the cloud, create a repoint configuration to specify the repoint parameters. For information about creating a repoint configuration, see the Creating a Repoint configuration topic.
The following video shows you how to create an assessment task:
1On the left navigation menu, click New.
The New Asset dialog box appears.
2Click Assessment Task, and then click Create.
The New Assessment Task page appears.
3Enter the required information as shown in the following table:
Property
Description
Name of the task
Name of the assessment task.
Assessment Task Location
Location in Data Integration to save the assessment tasks.
Runtime Environment
The name of the runtime environment where you want to run the assessment job.
Description
(Optional) Description of the assessment job.
Domain
The domain that contains the repository to be assessed.
Repository Type
Different repository types that can be assessed.
Currently, you can assess only PowerCenter and Model repositories.
Repository
Repository to be assessed.
Shared Folder Location
Base location of the shared folder where you copied the parameter files.
For example, if you have copied the configuration files to the <SharedDirectoryLocation>\<DomainDisplayName>\<RepositoryName>\Templates folder, the base location is <SharedDirectoryLocation>\.
I have placed the parameter files in the shared folder
Confirm that you have copied the parameter files to the following location: <shared_folder>\<domain_name>\<repository_name>\Templates
Analyze mapping patterns
Confirm to analyze the PowerCenter repository to identify SQL ELT patterns while performing Snowflake repointing assessment.
You can analyze mapping patterns of PowerCenter repositories on the Microsoft Azure and Amazon Web Services (AWS) PODs only.
Note: To analyze mapping patterns, the Pattern Analysis license must be enabled. To enable the license, contact Informatica Global Customer Support.
4(Optional) To repoint the PowerCenter assets to a different endpoint after migrating to the cloud, select the repoint configuration.
Currently, you can repoint only PowerCenter assets to a different endpoint.
aSelect Migrate to a different endpoint.
bSelect the repoint configuration that you want to use for this assessment.
cClick Validate.
CDI-PC validates if the required input files are available in the shared directory location.
On successful validation, the Start Assessment button is enabled.
5Click Start Assessment.
An assessment job is created and the assessment process starts.
Based on the repository size, it might take several minutes to few hours for the assessment process to complete. You can monitor the status of the assessment job in the My Jobs page.
Additionally, CDI-PC sends an email notification after the assessment job completes.
