Step 3. Assign Connection Privileges
Enterprise Data Preparation uses connection objects to connect to the data lake. You must assign privileges on the Hadoop connections to Enterprise Data Preparation users so they can access the data assets in the lake.
Assign Enterprise Data Preparation users privileges on the following connections to the data lake:
- •Hive connection
- •HDFS connection
- •Cluster configuration
- •JDBC connection with Sqoop
Use the same steps to assign privileges to Enterprise Data Preparation users on each connection.
1In the Administrator tool, click Manage > Connections.
2In the Navigator, select the corresponding data lake connection.
3In the contents panel, select the Permissions view.
4Select Groups or Users.
You can assign permissions based on how you organize Enterprise Data Preparation users in the domain.
5Click the Actions menu on the Manage tab.
6Select Assign Permission.
The Assign Permissions dialog box displays all users or groups that do not have permission on the connection. If you do not see the user or group to which you want to assign permissions, you can filter the list displayed on the dialog box by group or user name or by security domain.
7Select a user or group, and click Next.
8Select Allow for the permission type that you want to assign.
Enterprise Data Preparation users require read and write permissions on each connection to the data lake.
9Click Finish.
