Find and Replace Operations in Exception Tasks
You can find a record that contains a value that you specify in the current task. You can replace a value with another value. You can find and replace a value in a single record, and you can find and replace a value in multiple records in a single operation.
The find and replace operations can find a data value in any column in the task or in a column that you specify. You can find and replace data values on the current page or on all pages in the task.
You can find and replace data values when you filter the task data. The find and replace operations apply to the records that meet the filter criteria. If you replace the values on the current page, the Analyst tool replaces the values on the first page that contains a record that meets the filter criteria.
Click Find & Replace to show or hide the options in the task.
Finding and Replacing Values in Exception Records
Find and replace values in a single column or in all columns in the record data. Find and replace values on the current page or on all pages. Use filters to find a subset of records to search.
1. Open the exception task.
2. On the Data Editing tab, click Edit.
3. Click Find & Replace.
The Analyst tool shows the find and replace options above the list of records.
4. Enter a data value in the Find field.
The Analyst tool displays all of the records that contain the value that you enter. Use the arrows to move through the records.
5. Optionally, specify a column to search.
The Analyst tool displays the records that contain the value that you enter in the column that you specify. Use the arrows to move through the records.
6. To replace the data value that you enter with another value, enter a value in the Replace with field.
- - Select or clear the option for case-sensitive searches.
- - Select or clear the option to search the data fields for the complete string that you enter.
7. To replace the highlighted value with the value that you entered, click Replace.
Repeat the step to find and replace additional instances of the value in the task.
8. To replace all instances of a value, click Replace All.
Replace all of the values on the current page, or replace all of the values in the task.
