Search Results
When you perform a search, the Analyst tool displays the number of search results and lists the search results in the search panel. The search panel appears at the bottom of the workspace that you are in.
The search results include assets, related assets, business terms, and policies. The results can also include column profile results and domain discovery results from a profiling warehouse.
You can apply filters to narrow the search results. Apply filters to search results from the Filter panel within the search panel. You can configure filter properties when you apply filters to the search results. You can hide the Filter panel or open it again.
You can sort or group assets in the search results by asset property. You can select an asset from the search results and open the asset in its workspace.
Search Query
Use keyword matches, wildcards, or operators to refine a search query.
You can use the following characters in a search query:
- Keywords
- Use an exact keyword match in the search. Enclose a search query in quotation marks (" ") to search for an exact keyword match. The Analyst tool returns assets with the name that matches the keyword exactly.
- Wildcards
- Use the * and ? wildcard characters in the search. Use wildcard characters to define one or more characters in a search. Use wildcards as a suffix or infix in a search.
*. Represents characters. For example when you search for customer*, the Analyst tool can return customer, customer_name, and CustomerID. Use * with at least one character. You cannot use * at the beginning of a search query.
?. Represents a single character. For example when you search for Customer?, the Analyst tool can return Customer1, Customer2, and CustomerA.
- Operators
- Use the + or Space operators in the search.
+. Includes the search term. For example, to include both sales and data use the following query: +sales +data.
Space. Includes either one of the search terms. For example, sales data.
Search Properties
You can apply filters to search for an assets in the search results. You can hide the Filter panel if you do not need to add filters. Business glossary users can specify additional asset state filters.
You can use the following filter properties:
- Search
- Enter a search string in the Find box of the Filter panel.
- Location
- Location of the asset in the business glossary or repository.
- Time (last updated)
Time that the asset was last updated. You can select the following times:
- - From the beginning
- - Past 1 hour
- - Past 24 hours
- - Past week
- - Past month
- - Past year
- Created by
- Name of the user who created at least one asset in the asset list. Select All to select all users.
