Category Properties
A category is a descriptive classification of business terms and policies.
You can configure the following properties to define a category:
- Name
- Category name.
- Description
- Description of the category.
- Location
- The glossary that contains the category.
- Status
- The current status of the category. The current status is applicable for the current revision of the category.
A category can have one of the following statuses:
- - Active. Indicates that the category is valid for the organization. All Business Glossary users can see the category.
- - Inactive. Indicates that the category is not visible to glossary consumers. Set the status to inactive if the category is no longer valid for the organization or not ready for glossary consumers to view.
- Phase
- The current phase of the category. The current phase is applicable for the current revision of the category. The value of this property changes when the data steward defines, proposes, rejects, or publishes the business term.
A category can exist in one of the following phases:
- - Draft. Indicates that the data steward created the category.
- - In Review. Indicates that the data steward proposed a review by the stakeholder.
- - Rejected. Indicates that the stakeholder reviewed and rejected the category.
- - Published. Indicates that the data steward published the category.
- Glossary consumers can see published categories that are active.
- Data Steward
- The user who manages the category.
- Owner
- The category owner.
- Stakeholders
- One or more users who participate in the approval process before the data steward publishes the category.
Activity Properties
The Activity section contains properties to track activity.
The Activity section is visible when you open a category.
Categories contain the following properties in the Activity section:
- View History
- Displays the history of tasks such as import, publish, or revise performed on the current category.
- Comments
- Displays the comments for the current category.
