Business Glossary Access
Use the Business Glossary Desktop client or an internet browser to log in to Business Glossary to look up Glossary assets.
Glossary assets are available to users who have access to Business Glossary. Users must have permission to view a glossary to look up business terms, policies, and categories in the glossary.
You can use the Business Glossary Desktop client to look up the meaning of a term that you see in an application such as Microsoft Excel. Select the term and use hotkeys to start the Business Glossary Desktop.
Logging in to Business Glossary
Use the Business Glossary URL to log in to the Business Glossary interface. When you log in to Business Glossary, you must specify the user name, password, and the native domain or the LDAP security domain.
1. Start a Microsoft Internet Explorer or Google Chrome browser.
2. In the Address field, enter the URL for the Analyst tool:
http[s]://<host name>:<port number>/analyst
3. If the domain uses LDAP or native authentication, enter your user name and password on the login page.
4. Select Native or the name of a specific security domain.
The Security Domain field appears when the Informatica domain uses LDAP or Kerberos authentication. If you do not know the security domain that your user account belongs to, contact the Informatica domain administrator.
5. Click Log In.
The Business Glossary page opens on the Start workspace.
6. Optionally, if you installed Business Glossary Desktop, click Start > Informatica Business Glossary > Informatica Business Glossary.
Using Business Glossary Desktop
Use the Business Glossary Desktop to search for Glossary assets from your desktop. You can keep the Business Glossary Desktop running while you work in other applications. You can select a term in any application and use hotkeys to directly look up the definition of the term.
1. To start the client from your system menu, click Start Informatica Business Glossary Desktop.
The Informatica Business Glossary Desktop window appears.
2. Search for a business term or select the term whose meaning you do not know in another application. Use hotkeys, such as Ctrl+Shift+Q, to start the Business Glossary Desktop.
The Business Glossary Desktop appears as a pop up window and displays a list of business terms that match the term you highlighted.
3. Click a business term in the search results.
The Business Glossary Desktop client displays the business term details.
4. Optionally, click the term to view more information about the term.
Your default internet browser opens and details about the term appears in the Glossary workspace of Business Glossary.
