Sharing Mapping Specification Logic Overview

After you create a mapping specification and build the business logic for the mapping specification target, you can share the logic or results of the mapping specification with other analysts and developers.
You can share the mapping specification logic and results in the following ways:
Export the mapping specification logic to Microsoft Excel.
Share the mapping specification to document and review the mapping specification with other analysts and developers to modify the mapping specification with the review feedback.
Export the mapping specification logic to PowerCenter.
Share the mapping specification logic or share an XML file that contains the mapping specification logic with a PowerCenter developer to use in a mapplet or mapping.
During the export to PowerCenter process, an analyst who does not have permissions to export the mapping specification to a PowerCenter repository can choose to export the mapping specification logic as an XML file. The analyst can download this file and provide it to a PowerCenter developer to import as a mapplet or mapping in the PowerCenter repository.
Export the mapping specification logic as a virtual table.
Share the mapping specification logic in a virtual table to run SQL queries against the data.
Export the mapping specification target as a table definition.
Share the mapping specification target as a table definition. The Analyst tool generates an SQL script that contains the table definition. The SQL script is based on the structure of the mapping specification target. You can provide the script to a developer to create the mapping specification target as a table in a database.
Load the mapping specification results to a table.
Share the mapping specification results with other analysts and developers in a relational table. The structure of the mapping specification target must match the structure of the relational target.
Load the mapping specification results to a flat file.
Share the mapping specification results with other analysts and developers in a flat file. When you load the mapping specification results to a flat file, the Analyst tool generates a flat file that you can download locally.
