Configuring a Rule Statement
Before you configure the rule statement, verify that the rule set contains the inputs that the rule statement requires.
1. Open the rule specification.
2. Select the rule set to contain the rule statement.
3. Select an input that the rule statement condition can read.
You can add an input for every condition in the rule statement.
4. Select an operator. The operator specifies the type of comparison operation that the condition performs.
5. Select the type of data value that the condition compares to the input data.
- - You can specify a string, float, or integer data type.
- - You can select any input from the rule set, including the input that you selected for the rule statement.
- - You can specify a null data value.
- - You can apply a function to the input that you selected for the rule statement.
6. Configure the condition.
- - Use the condition options to enter a data value or to select an input.
- - Use the Define Condition dialog box options to configure a function.
7. Select the type of action to perform when the condition validates the input data.
8. Configure the action.
- - Use the action options to enter a data value or select an input.
- - Use the Define Action dialog box options to configure a function.
9. Save the rule statement.
