Configuring a Rule Statement that Reads the Result of Another Rule Statement

You can configure a rule statement to read the result of the preceding rule statement. You can use the rule statement to identify input data values that do not conform to the conditions of the preceding rule statement.
For example, you can configure a rule statement to read ZIP Code values and to identify the states to which the ZIP Codes belong. You can add a rule statement that reads the result of the rule statement and that identifies data values that are not valid ZIP Codes.
    1. Open the rule specification.
    2. Select the rule set that contains a valid rule statement.
    3. From the rule statement menu, select Add Rule Statement Using Result.
The Analyst tool adds a rule statement under the rule statement that you select.
    4. Configure and save the rule statement.
You can configure multiple rule statements to read the result of a rule statement in the same rule set. Each one is a separate rule statement in the rule set, and each one can generate an output for the rule set.
