Users
Users in Axon have privileges that allow them to interact with the Axon application in different ways. To install and manage Axon effectively, you must have users with the correct privileges in the Linux environment and Axon interface.
Users in the Linux Environment
The installer file installs Axon in a home directory that is designated for the installer binaries and application files. This directory must be managed by a non-root user.
To install and manage Axon, you must have the following users in the Linux environment:
Root User
The Linux root user creates the Axon Administrator in Linux and provides a home directory to install Axon. The root user is also required to upgrade Axon from version 5.2 or earlier.
Axon Administrator
This user is a non-root user who installs and manages Axon. The Axon Administrator monitors the Axon application in the Linux environment, troubleshoots Axon services that might have stopped, and configures Axon in Linux to connect with other applications.
The Axon Administrator must have read and write permissions on the Axon installation directory. The Axon Administrator does not require the root or sudo privilege.
User Profiles in Axon Data Governance
Every Axon Data Governance user has a user profile. The type of profile decides the tasks that a user can perform in Axon. An administrator associates user profiles to user accounts.
Users can have one of the following user profiles associated with their account:
- WebUser
- A WebUser is the most basic user profile in Axon. WebUsers have permission to view content.
- An administrator can provide advanced permissions to a WebUser on a facet by assigning a role. SuperAdmin users can adjust the permissions applicable to a role. Any user with the Edit privileges for an object can assign roles to WebUsers. The WebUser then becomes a stakeholder for the facet and can perform other tasks to create or manage content for the facet. Stakeholder roles can provide New permissions for a facet and Edit permissions for individual objects. For example, a WebUser with the relevant role and permission can bulk upload data to Axon. A WebUser with the New permission on a Glossary facet can create Glossary objects.
- Admin
- Users can perform administrative tasks on facets if they are assigned the Admin profile. Users with the admin profile have access to the Admin Panel.
