New Features in Version 6.0

This section describes new Axon features in version 6.0.

Automate Object Onboarding from Enterprise Data Catalog

Effective in version 6.0, you can choose to automate the process of onboarding discovered objects from Enterprise Data Catalog to Axon. In the onboarding process, the critical key data elements are identified and the objects such as data sets and attributes are automatically created.
To automatically onboard discovered objects from Enterprise Data Catalog, you need to configure Enterprise Data Catalog parameters from the Admin Panel in Axon.
The object onboarding is based on the links between an Enterprise Data Catalog field and Axon glossary and the confidence score threshold that you configure in Axon.
Axon sends notifications about the objects that are onboarded from Enterprise Data Catalog. The notifications are sent to all the stakeholders of a glossary.
The data set stakeholders can curate the onboarded attributes. If the attributes are discovered and onboarded from Enterprise Data Catalog in to Axon, you can view the following additional columns:
For more information, see the Automating Object Onboarding from Enterprise Data Catalog topic in the Informatica Axon Data Governance 6.0 User Guide.

Bulk Upload and Update API

Effective in version 6.0, you can use an API to upload and update a large number of objects, relationships, and roles to Axon.
You can also upload the objects to Axon using the Axon interface. The API is an alternate method to upload the objects to Axon.
For more information, see the Bulk Upload Objects topic in the Informatica Axon Data Governance 6.0 REST API Guide.

Custom Fields

Effective in version 6.0, you can create custom fields in Axon to capture specific additional data to meet your business requirements. You can choose to view the custom fields in the results when you search for objects in Unison Search.
For more information, see the Configure Custom Fields topic in the Informatica Axon Data Governance 6.0 Administrator Guide.

Data Domain Discovery Rules

Effective in version 6.0, in a Glossary object, you can associate the glossary to a data domain discovery rule. Enterprise Data Catalog uses the data domain discovery rules to discover matching field data or field name patterns from the metadata extracted by the resources. Enterprise Data Catalog discovers the data sets and attributes based on the association between the glossary and data domain discovery rules, and then onboards the discovered objects to Axon.
For more information, see the Data Domain Discovery Rules topic in the Informatica Axon Data Governance 6.0 User Guide.

Data Quality Rule Automation

Effective in version 6.0, you can automate data quality checks on Axon attributes and automate the data quality measurement on the attributes in Informatica Data Quality. The rule automation significantly reduces the effort to run data quality rules, increases productivity, and allows you to implement data governance with higher quality.
In Axon, you can associate Glossary objects with data domains and fields in Enterprise Data Catalog. This association automatically creates Axon attributes for Enterprise Data Catalog fields. You can also create standard data quality rules in Axon and link the rules with rule specifications and rule mapplets in Informatica Data Quality. When you make these associations, Axon automatically creates local data quality rules for the Enterprise Data Catalog fields. Axon sends mapping requests for the fields to Informatica Data Quality. After Informatica Data Quality generates data quality scores on the fields, Axon retrieves these scores and displays them in the Axon interface.
For more information, see the Automate Data Quality Rules chapter in the Informatica Axon Data Governance 6.0 User Guide.

Dashboard

Effective in version 6.0, you can view a personalized dashboard that you can use to quickly access Axon items. On the My Dashboard page, you can view useful, collective, and personalized content with drill-down capabilities in separate widgets, such as the overall Data Quality score, change requests, roles and responsibilities, saved searches, and quick links to navigate to objects. From each widget, you can click the hyperlinks to navigate to the relevant objects.
You can choose to configure the default landing page that you want to view after you log in to Axon. You can also choose the widgets that you want to view on the dashboard.
To view the dashboard when you log in to Axon, you need to enable dashboard from the Admin Panel.
For more information, see the My Dashboard topic in the Informatica Axon Data Governance 6.0 User Guide.

Process Map Annotations

Effective in version 6.0, in a Process object map, the plus symbol (The plus symbol) indicates a process of Process type.
You can add an annotation text in a Process object to provide more context to enable better decision-making. If the preceding process is of Control type for a Process object, you can edit the process to add conditions. The conditions that you enter appear as annotation text on the map.
For more information, see Viewing Process Maps and Process X Process topics in the Informatica Axon Data Governance 6.0 User Guide.

Support for New Linux Distribution

Effective in version 6.0, you can install Axon on Amazon Linux 2 and Oracle Enterprise Linux 7.4.
For more information, see the System Requirements topic in the Informatica Axon Data Governance 6.0 Installation Guide.

View Column Field Type

Effective in version 6.0, in Axon, you can see the columns of relational views from Enterprise Data Catalog. The columns of relational views appear as View Column type in the Fields facet.
For more information, see the Enterprise Catalog Facets topic in the Informatica Axon Data Governance 6.0 User Guide.
