New Features in Version 6.2
This section describes new Axon features in version 6.2.
Axon Quick Look
Effective in version 6.2, you can use Informatica Axon Quick Look to search for glossaries in Axon Data Governance from any application on your desktop, such as Microsoft Outlook or Microsoft Word. Axon Quick Look is an application that installs on your computer and quickly retrieves the glossary.
Look up a glossary term in Axon Quick Look to get the context and meaning for the term. Click the glossary term to view more information. You cannot edit glossaries in Axon Quick Look. To edit or update a glossary, you need to open the glossary in Axon Data Governance.
For more information, see the Informatica Axon Quick Look 6.2 User Guide.
Dashboard Enhancements
Effective in version 6.2, you can personalize the Axon dashboards and share them with other users.
You can perform the following tasks in the Axon dashboard:
- •Create dashboards: Add multiple dashboards, clone dashboards, and choose to display different widgets in each dashboard.
- •Share dashboards: Share a dashboard and all the widgets in it with several users.
- •Download dashboards: Save a dashboard to your local computer as a downloadable .PDF, .PNG, or .JPG file.
- •Free text widget: Create a widget that contains your own text. You can add text with HTML formatting. Use this widget to add notes, tasks, and reminders.
- •Table visualization: Display the search results in a widget as a table.
For more information, see the Create Dashboards and Widgets section in the Informatica Axon Data Governance 6.2 User Guide.
Unison Search Enhancements
Effective in version 6.2, Unison search has the following enhancements:
- Fuzzy Search
- A fuzzy search finds matching results even when you misspell, interchange, or miss one of the keywords. When you perform a search, Axon implements fuzzy search logic and displays matching results. For example, if you type "logal" instead of "legal", "legal record" instead of "legal entity record", or "Data Party" instead of "Party Data," Axon ignores the typographical errors and displays matching results.
- A user with the SuperAdmin profile can choose to apply the fuzzy search behavior from the Admin Panel. The fuzzy search applies to both Unison and Quick searches. You can enable fuzzy search across all the languages and non-English characters.
- Default Active Facets
- Configure the default active facets and the order in which they must appear on the Unison search interface for all the users. An Admin or SuperAdmin user can configure the default active facets at the organization level. After you log in to Unison, you can view the configured default facets. If you change and save the layout for default facets, Axon overrides the default settings configured by the Admin or SuperAdmin user.
- Custom Fields Filter
- You can apply filters to custom fields when you perform a Unison search. The type of filters vary based on the type of custom field. For example, if the custom field is of type "Number," you can apply a filter based on the range. If the custom field is of type "Date," you can apply a filter based on start and end dates.
- You can apply filters for the following types of custom fields: Number, Percentage, Decimal, Dropdown, Checkbox, Date, and Time. If the custom field is of Text type, you can perform a search on the custom field name, but you cannot apply filters.
For more information, see the Search and View and Administer chapters in the Informatica Axon Data Governance 6.2 User Guide.
Tutorial Walkthroughs and Axon Community
Effective in version 6.2, you can access walkthroughs about product features that help you understand and quickly start using Axon. Walkthroughs are guided tutorials within Axon that explain how you can use a specific functionality.
The following walkthroughs are available in Axon:
- •Getting Started. Understand the Axon interface, layout of the main pages, and the user interface elements.
- •How Unison Works. Learn how you can use Unison Search to look up an object, see related objects, and understand the associations between the objects across various facets.
To launch a walkthrough, click on the ? help icon in the toolbar, select Walkthroughs, and click a tutorial.
You can also launch the Axon Community from the ? icon in the toolbar. Go to the Axon Community to access more resources and collaborate with other Axon users.
Approval Process for Bulk Uploaded Objects and Custom Field Changes
Effective in version 6.2, you can initiate an approval process if you create or update objects using the bulk upload operation. You can also initiate an approval process for changes that you make to custom fields.
For more information, see the Default Settings for Change Requests topic in the Informatica Axon Data Governance 6.2 User Guide.
Lifecycle Management for Automated Data Quality Rules
Effective in version 6.2, when you modify a standard data quality rule in Axon, the changes are propagated to the local rules. If you modify or delete the rules in Informatica Data Quality, Axon synchronizes the changes with Informatica Data Quality and updates the standard and local rules in Axon.
Manage Rules in Axon
You can manage Axon data quality rules in the following ways:
- •Modify standard rule. When you modify a standard rule, Axon sends the changes to the Axon Agent. Informatica Data Quality creates new mappings on the Axon attributes to run the rules again. Depending on the type of change you make to the standard rule, Axon deletes and recreates the local rules, or updates the scores for the local rules.
- •Delete standard rule. When you delete a standard rule, Axon deletes all automatically created local rules, and the Axon Agent removes all rule mappings for the Attribute objects in Informatica Data Quality.
- •Modify local rule. You can modify the frequency and threshold values of an automatically generated local rule. You might want to do this if you want different rule parameters for a specific Attribute object than the parameters defined in the standard rule. You can also disable rule automation for a specific Attribute object.
Manage Rules in Informatica Data Quality
You can modify or delete a rule in Informatica Data Quality. The Axon Agent sends the changes to Axon, and the local rules in Axon are updated.
The following rule changes in Informatica Data Quality are automatically updated in Axon:
- •Rename rule
- •Rename rule folder
- •Move rule from one folder to another
- •Rename rule project
- •Move rule from one project to another
- •Modify the rule logic without modifying the input parameters
For other rule changes in Informatica Data Quality, Axon invalidates the standard rule and disables the local rules. In such cases, you can manually modify the standard rule in Axon to conform to the rule changes in Informatica Data Quality.
New Enterprise Data Catalog Resource Types and Field Types
Effective in version 6.2, Axon displays several new resource types and field types from Enterprise Data Catalog.
New Resource Types
You can view the following types of Business Intelligence resources in Axon:
- •SAP Business Objects

For more information, see the Physical Fields section of the Enterprise Data Catalog Objects topic in the Informatica Axon Data Governance 6.2 User Guide.
Physical Fields Facet in Unison Search
Effective in version 6.2, Axon contains a new Unison facet called Physical Fields that displays fields from Enterprise Data Catalog that are linked to attributes.
The Physical Fields facet displays the field types, resources, and associated Axon attributes for each field. You can search for Physical Field objects in Unison Search, and apply filters to narrow your search results. You can select a field in Unison and click Search to see related attributes, data sets, systems, and glossaries. You can also use logical operators in Unison to search for attributes that are linked or not linked to Enterprise Data Catalog fields.
For more information, see the Administer chapter in the Informatica Axon Data Governance 6.2 User Guide.
Security Overlays in Maps
Effective in version 6.2, the insight maps display the security compliance scores of your systems if Axon is integrated with Informatica Secure@Source. You can view the risk score, protection status, and sensitivity level for each system. You can also see the protection status for the attributes of a data set. If a policy in Axon is linked with a security policy in Informatica Secure@Source, the insight maps indicate the security violations count for the policy.
For more information, see the Insight Maps Palette topic in the Axon Data Governance 6.2 User Guide.
Assign User Profiles to LDAP Users
Effective in version 6.2, Axon can retrieve users from the LDAP directory in your organization and assign them the WebUser, Admin, and SuperAdmin profiles. Axon can also assign user profiles to users that log in to Axon using Single Sign-On (SSO).
Previously, you could retrieve users from the LDAP directory and assign them any one user profile by default in Axon. For example, you could retrieve all users and assign them the WebUser profile. You had to manually assign the Admin and SuperAdmin user profiles to specific users in Axon.
In Axon version 6.2, you can specify the search criteria for users in the LDAP directory that must be assigned the WebUser, Admin, and SuperAdmin profiles. Axon retrieves these users, creates People objects, and automatically assigns the user profiles.
For more information, see the Retrieve Users from LDAP Directory to Axon topic in the Informatica Axon Data Governance 6.2 Administrator Guide.
New Interface Language
Effective in version 6.2, you can use the Axon interface in Spanish.
To choose a language, log in to Axon, click the user name in the toolbar, hover the mouse over Language, and select a language.
