New Features in Version 7.1
This section describes new Axon features in version 7.1.
Axon with Enterprise Data Catalog
Effective in version 7.1, the Axon and Enterprise Data Catalog integration includes the following enhancements:
- Enterprise Data Catalog Parameters
- You can configure the following Enterprise Data Catalog parameters in Admin Panel:
- Enable Lineage Recommendation Notifications
- Send notifications for the recommended attribute relationships based on the lineage in Enterprise Data Catalog.
- Default Glossary
- The default glossary name that you want to associate with the objects onboarded from Enterprise Data Catalog. Axon uses this default glossary if you choose to not onboard objects with associated glossaries to a System object.
- Automatically Delete Attribute Relationships
- Automatically deletes attribute relationships that are no longer valid if a linked physical field is deleted from Enterprise Data Catalog. This deletion applies to attribute relationships that are automatically created based on the lineage recommendations from Enterprise Data Catalog.
- View Custom Attributes for Physical Fields
- View custom attributes for physical fields from Enterprise Data Catalog.
- Restrict Access Based on Enterprise Data Catalog Permissions
- You can restrict access to assets in Axon based on the access permissions to the assets in Enterprise Data Catalog.
- Configure Timeout Period for Enterprise Data Catalog API
- The maximum time period in seconds that Axon waits for the Enterprise Data Catalog API to respond.
- Enterprise Data Catalog Server Proxy Host
- The proxy host name for the Enterprise Data Catalog server.
- Enterprise Data Catalog Server Proxy Port Number
- The proxy port number for the Enterprise Data Catalog server.
- Test Connection
- After you configure the Enterprise Data Catalog parameters from the Admin Panel, you can test the connectivity to Enterprise Data Catalog to ensure that the specified parameters are correct. If all the parameters are correct, you can view that the connection is successful. If any parameter is incorrect, the connection fails and an error message appears. You cannot test the connectivity for the Enterprise Data Catalog proxy parameters.
- Bulk Upload Validations
- When you bulk upload Attribute X Physical Field and System X Resource templates, Axon validates the bulk upload task based on your permissions to access the physical fields in Enterprise Data Catalog.
- Automatically Created Attribute Relationships
- If there are multiple hop relationships between the physical fields in Enterprise Data Catalog, you can view the automatically created attribute relationships in Axon. To view additional relationships that are created, you need to run the Axon scanner.
- Link Removal Notifications
- If a resource or physical field is deleted from Enterprise Data Catalog and if you have not configured to automatically delete attribute relationships from the Admin Panel, the automatically created attribute relationships are not removed from Axon. Axon sends email and interface notification to the Data Set stakeholder about the relationships that are not valid. Axon sends notifications based on the Automatically Delete Attribute Relationships and Enable Lineage Recommendation Notifications configuration in the Admin Panel.
- Data Onboarding Rules
- Create data onboarding rules from the Admin Panel to control the onboarding of objects into Axon systems. In a System object, apply data onboarding rules that you have configured. You need to enable the automated onboarding process from the System object. Based on the rule configuration, the Enterprise Data Catalog assets are filtered and the corresponding data set and attributes are onboard to the Axon system.
- You can also apply data onboarding rules in a System object to download and preview data in the CSV format. Use this data later to bulk upload data manually to Axon.
- Onboarded Attributes Metadata
- After the attributes are onboarded, you can view additional columns, such as Data Type, Data Length, and Key, with the values populated from Enterprise Data Catalog in Axon. You can view these columns while you manually link attributes to physical fields from the Axon interface.
- You can view the additional columns from the following areas in the Axon interface:
- - The Data > Data Attributes view of a Glossary object
- - The Attributes facet view from the Unison search
- - The Attributes tab of a Data Set object
- - The Data > Data Attributes view of a System object
- Physical Field Details
- In Axon, you can view the physical field details, such as datatype, primary key, custom attributes, and pattern, from Enterprise Data Catalog. When you click a physical field name, a dialog box appears in Axon with additional details for the physical field from Enterprise Data Catalog.
- You can view the physical field details from the following areas of Axon:
- - Create > Manage Catalog Links > Physical Fields
- - System > Enterprise Catalog > Physical Fields
- - Glossary > Enterprise Catalog > Physical Fields
- - Data Set > Enterprise Catalog > Physical Fields
- - Glossary > Data > Data Attributes
- - System > Data > Data Attributes
- - Data Set > Data Attributes
