Installation Process

The installation of the Informatica domain services and Informatica clients consists of multiple phases.
The installation process varies based on the products that you install. Consider the following high-level tasks of the installation process:
Perform pre-installation tasks.
  1. 1. Plan the Informatica installation. Determine the big data products that you want to run in your environment. If you are creating a domain, consider the number of nodes in the domain, the application services that will run on each node, the system requirements, and the type of user authentication that the domain will use.
  2. 2. Prepare the databases required for repositories, warehouses, and catalogs. Verify the database requirements and set up the databases.
  3. 3. Set up the machines to meet Linux requirements to ensure that you can successfully install and run the Informatica services.
  4. 4. If you are installing Enterprise Data Catalog, determine whether you want to install on a cluster embedded with the domain or use one that is external to the domain.
  5. 5. Determine security requirements for the domain, services, and databases.
Run the installer to install the big data products required for your environment.
When you install version 10.2.1, you can choose the following types of installation:
You can also install Data Transformation Engine for Big Data Parser.
Complete the configuration.
  1. 1. Verify code page compatibility.
  2. 2. Configure environment variables.
  3. 3. Complete tasks required by the type of user authentication used by the domain.
  4. 4. Optionally, configure secure communication for the domain.
  5. 5. Create and configure application services.
  6. 6. Configure connections required by the application services.
  7. 7. Create the users and connections required by the application services.
  8. 8. Integrate the domain with the Hadoop environment.
Install the Developer tool.
  1. 1. Verify the installation and third-party software requirements for the clients.
  2. 2. Use the client installer to install on Windows machines.
  3. 3. Configure required environment variables, and optionally install additional languages.
