Enterprise Data Catalog Installation Overview

Informatica provides a single installer that installs both Enterprise Data Catalog and its services. Enterprise Data Catalog is installed within the Informatica domain. Enterprise Data Catalog uses the Catalog Service and other application services to bring together configured data assets in an enterprise and present a comprehensive view of the data assets and data asset relationships.
The installation involves the following stages:
Enterprise Data Catalog contains the following client applications:

Installation Scope

The installation instructions guide you to install Enterprise Data Catalog in an embedded cluster that is not enabled for Kerberos or SSL. The scope of the installation is to create a domain that is not enabled for SSL.
It is assumed that you have identified the system requirements for installing and configuring Enterprise Data Catalog based on the data volume that you plan to ingest into the catalog. See the Tuning Enterprise Data Catalog Performance how-to-library article to know more about the tuning and sizing based on data volume that you want to ingest.

Resuming an Installation

If the installation is incomplete due to a failure, interruption, or unintentional exit from the installer, you can resume the installation from the point where it stopped. You must make sure that the Informatica domain is running before you resume the installation. To resume the installation, run the ./install.sh command.
Before you resume the installer, complete the following prerequisites:
Perform the following steps to resume the installation:
  1. 1. Open a command prompt and navigate to the location of the installation files.
  2. 2. To resume the installation, run the ./install.sh command.
  3. 3. When the installer runs, you might get a prompt to confirm if you want to resume the previous installer.
