Administration of Tableau Connector
As a user, you can use Tableau Connector after the organization administrator performs the following tasks:
- •Install Tableau Connector.
- •If the Secure Agent runs on Linux, set the PATH and LD_LIBRARY_PATH environment variables to include the TDE API libraries, and then restart the Secure Agent. For example, specify the following path:
- - export PATH=$PATH=:/root/main/tomcat:/root/ main//bin/rdtm
- - export LD_LIBRARY_PATH=:/root/main/tomcat:/root/main//bin/rdtm
- •To publish the TDE file to a site other than the default site on Tableau Server, create a site on Tableau Server. Contact the Tableau Server administrator if a user wants to specify an existing site ID to publish the TDE file in Tableau Server. By default, the data synchronization task publishes data sources to the default site in Tableau Server.
- •To publish the TDE file to Tableau Online, request to have the Tableau Online administrator provide the link in Tableau Online where you can create a site. A default site is not available in Tableau Online.
- •Users must have permissions to the path where the Secure Agent stores the temporary TDE and TWBX files. The Secure Agent stores the temporary files in the staging directory, extract file path, or the current working directory, in the specified order of priority. After the files are published to Tableau, the Secure Agent deletes the temporary files.
Note: To use the Hosted Agent to run data synchronization and mapping tasks with Tableau Connector, the Administrator must provide the licence to the user to access the Hosted Agent. The user gets the permissions to the path where the Hosted Agent stores the temporary TDE and TWBX files with the licence.
