Contact Validation Tasks
With the Contact Validation task, you can validate and correct postal address data, and add geocode information to postal address data. You can also validate email addresses and check phone numbers against the Do Not Call Registry.
The Contact Validation task reads data from sources, validates and corrects the selected validation fields, and writes data to output files. In addition to validation fields, the Contact Validation task can include up to 30 additional source fields in the output files for a task.
You can use the Contact Validation task to perform the following tasks:
- •Validate and correct one set of address fields in a Contact Validation task.
When the Contact Validation task processes an address, it checks the address against address databases. If it finds a match in the database, it validates the address. If it finds a close match in the database, it can also correct inaccuracies in the address, such as spelling errors or incomplete postal codes.
- •Add geocode information for an address.
When the Contact Validation task adds geocode information, it adds the latitude and longitude for the address location.
- •Validate an email address field.
When the Contact Validation task processes an email address, it verifies that the email address is a valid, working email address. You can process a single email address field in a Contact Validation task.
- •Validate a phone number field.
When the Contact Validation task processes a phone number, it checks the number against the National Do Not Call Registry. You can process a single phone number field in a Contact Validation task. Requires a subscription to the National Do Not Call Registry.
If you want to process more than one set of address, email, or phone number fields, create a Contact Validation task for each set. For example, to process billing and shipping addresses and phone numbers, create one Contact Validation task to process the billing address fields and billing phone number. Then, create a second Contact Validation task to process the shipping address fields and shipping phone number. To coordinate task run times, you can include both tasks in a task flow or assign them to the same schedule.
