Catalog Source Configuration > Informatica Developer - Preview catalog source > Before you begin

Before you begin

Before you create a catalog source, ensure that you have the information required to connect to the source system.
Perform the following tasks:

Verify permissions

To extract metadata and to configure other capabilities that a catalog source might include, you need account access and permissions on the source system. The permissions required might vary depending on the capability.

Permissions to extract metadata

Ensure that you have the required permissions to enable metadata extraction.
To use the infacmd command line utility to access the model repository projects and folders, verify that you have read permissions on the assets.

Get Informatica Developer source information

Get the values of the connection properties that you need to configure from the Informatica administrator.
Note: You don't need to create a connection object for Informatica Developer. You provide this information when you configure the catalog source.
The following table describes the properties that you need to configure:
Property
Description
Infacmd Utility Path
The path to the infacmd file located on the Secure Agent machine.
Domain
The name of the Informatica domain.
User
The user name to connect to the Informatica domain.
Password
The password for the user name.
Security Domain
The name of the security domain to which the user belongs.
Model Repository Service
The name of the Model Repository Service.
Timeout
The amount of time in seconds after which infacmd times out if it doesn't receive a response.

Create endpoint catalog sources for connection assignment

An endpoint catalog source represents a source system that the catalog source references. Before you perform connection assignment, create endpoint catalog sources and run the catalog source jobs.
You can then perform connection assignment to reference source systems and run connection-aware scans to view complete lineage with source system objects.
