Installing Enterprise Data Catalog Agent
You must install the Enterprise Data Catalog Agent to extract metadata from data sources that run on Microsoft Windows.
Make sure that you install the Enterprise Data Catalog Agent for the following data sources:
- •SQL Server Integration Service
- •Cognos
- •MSTR
- •SAP BO
- •Erwin
- •SAP Power Designer
- •QlikView
- •Microsoft SQL Server
Note: You must install the Enterprise Data Catalog Agent when you use Windows authentication for the Microsoft SQL Server resource.
- •Qlik Sense
Note: To extract metadata using the Qlik Sense resource, you must install the Enterprise Data Catalog Agent on the Qlik Sense server.
1. Download the binary EDC_Agent_<version>_Windows.zip file.
2. Extract the binary files to a directory.
3. Rename the jre_win<xx> directory to jre.
Note: <xx> indicates if the machine runs on a 64-bit operating system or a 32-bit operating system.
4. Change the connector port number in the <Installation_Directory>\tomcat\conf\tomcat.properties file. Default is 19980.
If port 19980 is used by another application, you can change the port number in the tomcat.properties file. For example, you can set the connector port as 19981 and shutdown port as 19982.
5. To start the Enterprise Data Catalog Agent, run the RestartServerApplication.bat file.
6. When you configure a resource in Catalog Administrator to extract metadata from a data source, use the following format in the Agent URL field:
http://<hostname>:<connector_port>/MIMBWebServices
