Overview
Effective in version 10.4.1, the catalog backup and log collection utilities are available for technical preview. Technical preview functionality is supported but is unwarranted and is not production-ready. Informatica recommends that you use these features in non-production environments only. Informatica intends to include the preview functionality in an upcoming GA release for production use, but might choose not to in accordance with changing market or technical circumstances. Enterprise Data Catalog bundles the utilities with the 10.4.1 installer and you can use the utilities after you install Enterprise Data Catalog 10.4.1 or apply the 10.4.1. hotfix. You can access the utilities using a supported browser without performing any additional configuration steps. The utilities help you to back up the catalog and collect the required log files to analyze and troubleshoot issues that you might encounter when you use Enterprise Data Catalog.
Catalog Backup Utility
You can use the catalog backup utility to backup the catalog data if you want to troubleshoot issues based on the data in the catalog. The backup utility allows you to take a catalog backup without stopping the Catalog Service.
Enterprise Data Catalog Service Logs
The Enterprise Data Catalog service logs for Apache HBase, Apache Solr, ingestion, and Catalog Service help you analyze and troubleshoot issues related to metadata ingestion in the catalog, issues related to search, or issues related to Catalog Service failures and stability.
Resource Logs
Resource logs help you troubleshoot issues related to specific resources that you might observe in the catalog.
