Workday

You can use the Workday resource to collect metadata from assets in Workday.

Objects Extracted

The Workday resource extracts metadata from the following assets in a Workday data source:
Note: *Enterprise Data Catalog extracts the Workday Service metadata as an XSD schema. In the schema, an Entity represents the complex XML elements and the Property represents the simple XML elements.

Permissions to Configure the Resource

Make sure that you use a user account with Workday administrator privileges when you configure a Workday resource.

Resource Connection Properties

The following table shows the connection properties that you must configure in the General tab for the resource:
Property
Description
Username
Username to access the Workday tenant. A Workday tenant represents a secure instance of the Workday software.
Password
Password to access the Workday tenant.
Tenant
URL of the of the Workday instance that you want to access.
Workday Domain
Name of the Workday domain that includes the Workday assets that you want to access. A domain in Workday represents a collection of related assets secured using a domain security policy. For example, a domain can include assets such as reports, data sources for the report, and properties of the data sources.
The following table shows metadata extraction settings that you can configure in the Metadata Load Settings tab for the resource:

Description
Enable Source Metadata
Extracts metadata from the data source.
Version
Version of the Workday Web Services API. Based on the version you select, the list of available Workday services changes.
Services
Workday services from which you want to extract metadata. A service in Workday represents a module that caters to a feature. For example, the feature to manage payroll related services might be provided by the Payroll module.
Import Business Objects, Data Sources, and Reports
Imports metadata related to business objects, data sources, and reports from the Workday data source.
Case Sensitive
Specifies that the resource is configured for case sensitivity. Select one of the following values:
  • - True. Select this check box to specify that the resource is configured as case sensitive.
  • - False. Clear this check box to specify that the resource is configured as case insensitive.
The default value is True.
Memory
Specifies the memory required to run the scanner job. Select one of the following values based on the data set size that you plan to import into the catalog:
  • - Low
  • - Medium
  • - High

JVM Options
JVM parameters that you can set to configure scanner container. Use the following arguments to configure the parameters:
  • - -Dscannerloglevel=<DEBUG/INFO/ERROR>. Changes the log level of scanner to values, such as DEBUG, ERROR, or INFO. Default value is INFO.
  • - -Dscanner.container.core=<No. of core>. Increases the core for the scanner container. The value should be a number.
  • - -Dscanner.yarn.app.environment=<key=value>. The key-value pair that you need to set in the Yarn environment. Use a comma to separate the key pair value.
  • - -Dscanner.pmem.enabled.container.memory.jvm.memory.ratio=<1.0/2.0>. Increases the scanner container memory when pmem is enabled. The default value is 1.

Select the option to view metadata source change notifications in Enterprise Data Catalog.
