Installing Enterprise Data Catalog Agent

You must install the Enterprise Data Catalog Agent to extract metadata from data sources that run on Microsoft Windows.
Make sure that you install the Enterprise Data Catalog Agent for the following data sources:
The machine on which you install the Enterprise Data Catalog Agent must have a minimum of 512 MB of RAM, 1 CPU, and 600 MB of free disk space.
For high volume use cases such as scanning a large number of SAP BO reports, you must have the following minimum system requirements:
To install the Enterprise Data Catalog Agent, perform the following steps:
    1. Download the following file from Akamai download manager: EDC_Agent_<version>_Windows.zip
    2. Extract the binary files to an installation directory on the machine.
    3. Change the connector port number in the <Installation directory>\tomcat\conf\tomcat.properties file. Default is 19980.
    If port 19980 is used by another application, you can change the port number in the tomcat.properties file. For example, you can set the connector port as 19981 and shutdown port as 19982.
    4. To start the Enterprise Data Catalog Agent, run the startup.bat file from the following directory: <Installation directory>\tomcat\bin
    The Enterprise Data Catalog Agent is started. To restart the Enterprise Data Catalog Agent, run the RestartServerApplication.bat file from the following directory: <Installation directory>
When you configure a resource in Catalog Administrator to extract metadata from a data source, use the following format in the Agent URL field:
http://<hostname>:<connector_port>/MIMBWebServices
