Manage Synonym Definitions Overview
Synonym definitions for assets in the catalog help you search for corresponding assets using the defined synonyms.
You can define synonyms in a synonym definition file and upload the file in Catalog Administrator. Make sure that the synonym definition file is saved as a text file with a .txt extension. You must define synonyms separated by a comma (,) in the synonym definition file as shown in the following sample:
social,SSN
security,SSN
uniqueID,SSN
number,SSN
customer,SSN
In the sample shown, the synonyms social, security, uniqueID, number, and customer correspond to the asset named SSN in the catalog. You can search for a column, table, data domain, or any other asset named SSN using the defined synonyms.
