Search Rank

Search ranking refers to the precedence of an asset when compared to other assets that are part of specific search results. In Enterprise Data Catalog, you can enter the search query in the Search field. Then, when you perform the search, the search results page display assets that meet the search criteria. The search results page is unique for every search query. Enterprise Data Catalog uses its own ranking algorithm to rank data assets in the search results page.
The data assets in the search results page rank in the following order:
  1. 1. In Enterprise Data Catalog, the certified asset appears at the top of the search results in the search results page. You can find assets that are reliable and trustworthy based on the certification of asset stakeholders.
  2. 2. Exact match search entries. Displays all the assets that include the search entry on the search results page, but assets that exactly match the search entry in the title take the priority on the search results page. For example, when you search an asset named Customer, the catalog displays all the assets that match the word Customer in the following order:
  3. 3. The search results page lists the following types of assets after certified assets:
  4. 4. Assets matching the title rank higher than the assets matching other fields, such as description and attribute values. Additionally, the data assets with user interactions, such as ratings, reviews, custom attributes, and comments take precedence over the data assets without user interactions.
