Associate Business Terms from Synonym File

You can associate business terms from an Informatica Axon resource with specific columns within a tabular asset using the Enterprise Data Catalog add-on. The add-on supports tabular assets from relational database type resources. To associate business terms, use a synonym file in CSV format to define the associations. You can then specify the resource name, the Informatica Axon resource that contains the business term, upload the synonym file, and run the utility.
Define the business term associations in a synonym file.
  1. 1. Create a comma-separated values (CSV) synonym file with the following columns: TableName, ColumnName, BGMapping
  2. 2. Enter the names of columns that you want to associate with business terms, and the corresponding table names.
  3. 3. In the BGMapping column, enter the business terms that you want to associate.
  4. 4. Save the file.
Associate business terms with specific columns.
  1. 1. Access the Enterprise Data Catalog add-ons.
  2. 2. In the My Services page, click Business Term Association from Synonym file.
  3. 3. Specify the resource that contains the columns to associate with business terms.
  4. 4. Select the Informatica Axon resource that contains the business term.
  5. 5. Choose the synonym file.
  6. 6. Click Submit to start the business term association.
    7. The job status appears in a table.
  7. 7. To download a CSV file with the status for each column that you specified, click Download file. You can also view error messages for failed associations.
