Conversion process

To convert PowerCenter objects to Data Integration assets, you export the objects from PowerCenter, run PC to Cloud Conversion to convert the objects, analyze the results, and then publish the assets to make them available in Data Integration.
To convert PowerCenter objects to Data Integration assets, perform the following tasks:
  1. 1Export the PowerCenter workflows or folders that contain the objects that you want to convert to Data Integration assets. Use PowerCenter Repository Manager or pmrep to export workflows or folders to XML files.
  2. Optionally, you can export Model repository objects and the associated dictionary files as an XML file and then the PC to Cloud Conversion converts the exported XML files to Cloud Data Integration assets.
  3. 2Create a workspace using PC to Cloud Conversion.
  4. 3Create a conversion project within a workspace.
  5. When you create the project, you select the PowerCenter export XML files that contain the objects that you want to convert. When you save the project, PC to Cloud Conversion scans the XML files and displays the conversion results in a panel on the PC to Cloud Conversion home page.
  6. 4Analyze the project results.
  7. The project panel displays high-level information about the reusability of the PowerCenter objects in Data Integration including the percentages of objects that were fully converted, converted with issues, and not converted.
Open the project to display detailed results which include the errors associated with each object that was converted with issues or was not converted. You can also download a report that summarized the project results in an .xlsx file.
  8. 5Publish assets to make them available in Data Integration.
  9. After you publish the assets, you can validate them in Data Integration. You can edit, run, and delete published assets just as you do with any natively created asset.
