Determines the reliability of source systems. Based on the accuracy and credibility of data that source systems provide, you can assign ranks. A higher rank indicates that the data from that source system is more reliable than the data from a source system with a lower rank.
For example, you can consider the HR source system as the most reliable source system and rank it as 1. In this case, data from the HR source system becomes reliable data for the master record.
You rank source systems based on the reliability of data in different fields. For example, in one source ranking, you can rank a source system as 1 because it provides reliable customer addresses. In another ranking, the same source system can be assigned a lower rank for customer names.
Each ranking is saved with a different label for identification. For example, if you assign rank 1 to source system A and rank 2 to source system B, the system labels the source ranking as Rank 2. If you modify the ranking and assign rank 1 to source system B and rank 2 to source system A, the system labels the modified source ranking as Rank 3 after you apply the changes. The system continues to assign labels incrementally, such as Rank 4 and Rank 5, to every new ranking that you apply.
