Associate reference data with Reference 360

You can associate reference data from Reference 360 with business terms, metrics, manual data elements, and data elements in Data Governance and Catalog.
From Data Governance and Catalog, you can browse reference data sets and view code values of various reference data. You can link data elements either to new reference data or to existing glossaries already associated with reference data. You can use the curated reference data from Reference 360 to enhance your business assets and improve data accuracy.

Associating reference data with business terms or metrics

You can view and associate reference data from Reference 360 with business terms and metrics. You can browse available reference data sets, and view attributes of the sample code values. From the asset, you can also navigate to Reference 360 to view more code values.
You can assign reference data only if you are a stakeholder of the asset.
To associate reference data from Reference 360 to a business term or a metric, perform the following steps:
    1Open the asset, and go to the Reference Data tab.
    2Click Add Reference Data. The Select Reference Data dialog box appears. Optionally, you can also add reference data from the Reference Data panel of the Overview page.
    3From the Select Code List tab, select the code list that you want to associate with your business term or metric and click Next.

    4From the Select Attributetab, select the attributes of the code values you want to associate with business term or metric.
    5Click Finish.
    The first 50 code values from the code list is displayed in the Reference Data tab. You can navigate to Reference 360 to view the complete list of code values.
    To associate a different reference data that is more suitable with the asset that is opened, click Change Reference Data.
    To remove the associated reference data, click the Remove associated reference data icon.

Associating reference data with manual data elements

You can view and associate reference data from Reference 360 with manual data elements. You can associate the manual data element with a new reference data or link the manual data element to a glossary that is already associated with reference data.
You can assign reference data only if you are a stakeholder of the asset.
To associate reference data from Reference 360 to a manual data element, perform the following steps:
    1Open the manual data element, and go to the Reference Data tab.
    2Click Add Reference Data. The Select Reference Data dialog box appears.
    3From the Select Attributetab, select the attributes you want to associate the manual data element.
    4Click Save.
    5If you selected New reference data, from the Select Code list section, select a code list you want to associate with your manual data element and click Next.
    You can view additional information of the selected code list.
    6From the Select Attribute tab, select the attributes you want to view in the Reference Data tab and click Finish.
    The Reference Data tab displays the first 50 code values.
    To view the complete list of code values, click Reference 360 beside the data set name to navigate to Reference 360.
    To associate a different reference data that is more suitable with the asset that is opened, click Switch Reference Dataset.
    To remove the associated reference data, click the Remove associated reference data icon.

Associating reference data with data elements

You can view and associate reference data from Reference 360 with data elements. You can associate the data element with a new reference data or link the data element to a glossary that is already associated with reference data.
You can assign reference data only if you are a stakeholder of the asset.
    1Open the data element, and go to the Reference Data tab.
    2Click Add Reference Data. The Select Reference Data dialog box appears.

    3Choose from the options to indicate how you want to associate the reference data with the data element.

    Reference data linked to the glossary
    Associate the data element with a glossary that already has an associated reference data.
    New reference data
    Associate the data element with new reference data from Reference 360.
    4If you selected Reference data linked to the glossary, from the Select Glossarysection, select the glossary you want to associate with your data element.
    5From the Select Attributetab, select the attributes you want to associate the data element.
    6Click Save.
    7If you selected New reference data, from the Select Code listsection, select a code list you want to associate with your data element.
    You can view additional information of the selected code list.
    8Click Next.
    9From the Select Attribute tab, select the attributes you want to view in the Reference Data tab.
    10Click Save.
    The Reference Data tab displays the first 50 code values.
    To view the complete list of code values, click Reference 360 beside the data set name to navigate to Reference 360.
    To associate a different reference data that is more suitable with the asset that is opened, click Switch Reference Dataset.
    To remove the associated reference data, click the Remove associated reference data icon.
