Enrichment propagation criteria control which enrichments propagate to a catalog source. The criteria determine which enrichment types to receive, the enrichment source, whether to include only certified assets, and how far propagation travels along lineage.
An asset receives enrichments from one enrichment source.
When you configure a catalog source, you can define the following criteria for enrichment propagation:
•Enrichment type. Select the types of enrichments to receive, such as classifications, descriptions, business names, and glossary associations.
•Enrichment source. The catalog source whose enrichments you want to receive. You can select a specific catalog source, or the nearest neighbor along data lineage.
•Certified assets. Choose to receive enrichments only from assets that are certified in the catalog. This option is selected by default. If you clear it, this catalog source also receives enrichments from assets that are not certified, which might be less reliable.
•Lineage direction and number of hops. If you choose the nearest neighbor as the enrichment source, these settings apply. The lineage direction sets which way to follow lineage. You can select upstream, downstream, or both. The number of hops sets how far to follow it. You can go up to a maximum of 15 hops.
For columns created through transformations, propagation depends on the enrichment source. If you choose to propagate enrichments from a specific catalog source, these columns receive enrichments. If you choose the nearest neighbor as the enrichment source, propagation skips these columns.
For information about how to configure these options, see the corresponding catalog source documentation.
