Before you connect to the Microsoft SQL Server Integration Services source system to extract metadata, complete the prerequisites.
Based on the connection mode that you choose, you need to complete the following prerequisite tasks:
Files mode
- Get the location of the source directory with files that you want to extract from the Informatica administrator.
- To improve performance, split the input into logical applications, and then create a configuration to extract metadata from objects that belong to each logical application. For example, if you split the input into 10 logical applications based on lines of business, create 10 configurations. If a line of business comprises different areas such as treasury or accounting, create separate configurations for those areas.
- Choose one of the following options:
▪ If you store the packages in a database, export the input files together with the corresponding DTSCONFIG, CONMGR, and PARAMS files. Export the input files to the Secure Agent machine with the dtutil utility.
▪ If you store the package as files in the DTSX format, export the input files and the corresponding DTSCONFIG and CONMGR files.
SSISDB mode
- Configure a connection to the Microsoft SQL Server Integration Services source system in Administrator.
- Use the SQL Server connector to connect to Microsoft SQL Server Integration Services.
For more information about configuring a connection, see Connections in the Administrator help.
- If SSISDB has packages deployed, then the catalog source can connect to the packages to extract DTSX, CONMGR, and PARAMS files.
- To configure Windows authentication on a Linux machine, use NT LAN Manager (NTLM) authentication.
The following example shows the connection string for a Microsoft SQL server database that uses NTLM authentication in a domain named informatica.com:
