To extract metadata and to configure other capabilities that a catalog source might include, you need account access and permissions on the source system. The permissions required might vary depending on the capability.
Permissions to extract metadata
Ensure that you have the required permissions to enable metadata extraction.
Metadata Command Center uses the credentials of the user created on the Tableau Server.
Configure the user account with the following permissions:
•Assign the Site Administrator Explorer or Site Administrator site role to your Tableau Server user account.
•Verify that your user account has view and download permissions for all projects, workbooks, and catalog sources on the Tableau Server.

You can perform data classification with the permissions required on the source system to perform metadata extraction.
